It was announced late last week that there will be one more date added to the 2025 Oxford Plains Speedway schedule. The Inaugural Memorial Day Clash 200 will happen on Tuesday May 27th, 2025. The Memorial Day Clash will form the first leg of the All-New Oxford Plains Triple Crown Series. The Triple Crown will also feature the two biggest Super Late Model races in New England, such as the Celebration of America 300 on July 1-2, and the 52nd annual Oxford 250 on August 22-24th. The Memorial Clash event will offer a different kind of format compared to what Oxford and the Pro All Star Series (PASS) does. Time Trials will be used to set the Top-20 cars in the main event. The remaining competitors will be placed into heat races to set the rest of the 35-car field for the Memorial Day Clash 200. The Memorial Day Clash will see $10,000 heading home in someone’s pocket at the conclusion of the 200 lap affair. The COA 300 and Oxford 250 are always a must-see event, and adding them to a Triple Crown will make the entertainment factor that much better. For those that may not know how big these races are, in the 2024 installment of the COA 300 the 2x NASCAR Cup Series Champion and winner of the 2011 Oxford 250 Kyle Busch made the trip to Oxford to run in the event. Former NASCAR Xfinity Champion Daniel Hemric also made the trip from North Carolina to Maine for this special event. One driver to focus on for the all new Triple Crown will be none other than Berwick Maine’s, Joey Doiron who won just about every big money Pro Stock race in 2024, including the COA 300 and the North American Pro Stock Nationals. The star-studded field of Super Late Model drivers is packed with talent from guys like Derek Griffith, DJ Shaw, Max Cookson, Cassius Clark, Cory Bubar, Johnny Clark and more. Going to victory lane for any of these events will be an emotional ride for any team. Jeff Taylor, a 9-time Oxford Super Late Model Champion, after years of trying to win the big show he finally broke through to capture the win over one of the best Super Late Model drivers in the country, Bubba Pollard. He beat 40 other drivers and it was pure emotion from him and his team in victory lane. These will be CAN’T MISS races this year. The Oxford Crown Jewel Triple Crown will also have a separate points battle, with the top 5 finishers in points receiving awards at the 2025 PASS Banquet. The Inaugural Memorial Day Clash will be sponsored by Kneeland-Hopkins Promotions and officiated by PASS officials. The short history of the Celebration of America 300 and long history of the Oxford 250 show many drivers making a name for themselves. The all new Oxford Triple Crown Series will be streamed on Racing America. The VT&NH Racing News will also be on-site at Oxford Plains Speedway for all three events. Marketing is available for our coverage, email vtnhracingnewsmedia@gmail.com for more.

The countdown continues before the roar of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season opener at New Smyrna Speedway, as part of Night #2 of the 59th annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing. 2-Time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Champion Ron Silk has won the last two races down in Florida as he will look to bring the #16 Haydt-Yannone Racing team back to Victory Lane for the third straight year. It was announced that the 16 team will run Part-Time in the 2025 NWMT season. That could only mean one thing, who will now challenge the 4-time Whelen Modified Tour Champion Justin Bonsignore, and the Kenneth Massa Motorsports team at the top of the point standings? New Smyrna will see Patrick Emerling and the Fleetworks team start their second year as team after an outstanding 2024 campaign. The #1 of Emerling found Victory Lane 3 times to go along with 11 Top-Fives, and 15 Top-Tens resulting with a 3rd place finish in the 2024 standings. How about the #64 KLM Motorsports machine driven by Austin Beers. Beers finished 4th in the point standings getting a win at Lancaster Motorplex. Beers has 3 career wins in the last 2 seasons and has been a top name on the historic Modified Tour. Last year's opener delivered all sorts of action with Modified talent around the east coast. We’re sure this year's opener will bring the same kind of excitement. New Smyrna will have a talented field for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour opener on February 8th, including 2024 SMART Modified Tour Champion Luke Baldwin, who will be running 12 NWMT events in 2025 for Tommy Baldwin Racing in the #7NY. Talented Modified driver Max Zachem will be joining the field for the opener, running at least the first 3 events. 31 cars are on the official entry list including “Big Money” Matt Hirschman the 2024 Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series Champion and multi-time NWMT winner. NASCAR Cup Series Star Ryan Newman will also be one of the 31 drivers in the field as he drives the #8 Modified entry for Eighty-Two Autosport. Tyler Rypkema who finished the 2024 campaign in the “Ole Blue” #3 will return behind the wheel as well. Who will capture the first checkered flag of the 2025 season as the stars of the NWMT will battle to win $15,875 in the season opener? If you can’t make it, tune into FloRacing, we will also be on-site at New Smyrna Speedway. Marketing opportunities for our coverage is still available, email us at vtnhracingnewsmedia@gmail.com.

After announcing some news yesterday about some of the Whelen Modified Tour races we will be covering in 2025, it's all made possible by our supporting sponsors. As the 2025 racing season continues to get closer we continue to look at possible events we would like to cover in the next season of the VT&NH Racing News. The Pro All Star Series Super Late Models have been a staple in the northeast since 2001, with a range of 12 to 18 events per year. In 2025 the PASS schedule looks a little different, keeping the series closer to home. The stars and cars of the Pro All Star Series Super Late Models will see six stops at their home turf of Oxford Plains during the 24th season of the series. A traditional three stops at North Woodstock, New Hampshire's White Mountain Motorsports Park, three visits to Eppings Star Speedway and a one off show at both Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park and the Magic Mile of New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The series will once again visit the Carolinas for two non point counting events, part of the Easter Bunny Weekend of Speed at the Hickory Motor Speedway to kick off the season. The Vermont & New Hampshire Racing News is set to cover as many PASS events in 2025 depending on sponsorship. If you or your business is interested in sponsoring the VT&NH Racing News in 2025 and helping us get to just about all the PASS events this season reachout to us via email at vtnhracingnewsmedia@gmail.com or send us a message at (802-274-7670)

Thunder Road officials announced the return of the Squier Cup Late Model Triple Crown Series for 2025. The series started last year with the first race being held as the Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic 125. The Triple Crown series was a great way to honor the late great Ken Squier after his passing last November. Squier was the first broadcaster to get CBS Sports to broadcast the 1979 Daytona 500 from flag to flag. Last year the Squier Cup took place as a Triple Crown series for the Late Models with race #1 held as the Memorial Day Classic 125, Race #2 the Vermont Governors Cup 150 and crowning a Champion with the Jack Dainels 100! Things will be similar in 2025 as the first two events will stay the same. In 2025 the Squier Cup Champion will be crowned on July 31st with Squier’s own WEDV Radio 100 lap main event. Officials at the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) and Oxford Plains Speedway (OPS) have announced another marquis event as a part of the 51st annual Oxford 250 weekend August 23-25. A $10,000-to-win open competition 200 lap event for Super Late Models will the headline the Friday card night of the biggest weekend of the year.
"We wanted to give teams another big race with big money as a part of the biggest weekend of the year," said PASS President Tom Mayberry. "Adding in the twist of an open competition will make strategy and ingenuity a factor in the outcome of the race."
A few minimal rules will be enforced by technical inspectors, allowing teams to think outside the box on both strategy, setups, and overall package. All cars will weigh 2750 with 58% left side weight, have a template style body with a clear spoiler, a tread width no more the 66 inches, no aluminum engine blocks, one carburetor, and the PASS Hoosier tires without tire softener.
With the addition of the 200 lap Open Competition race, PASS and OPS now feature four big marquis races at the Rte. 26 oval; The Celebration of America 300 in July, the aforementioned 200, the Oxford 250, and PASS 400 weekend in October. Further, Super Late Model racers will have a 150 lap event on August 4th and a 100 Oxford 250 qualifier on August 11th meaning every SLM race in the month August will be extra distance.

"2024 is a big year for PASS and OPS. After so many weather issues last season, we wanted to put together a schedule that would give our racers a chance at some longer races for bigger money," said Mayberry. "We think the addition of the open rules race is just another way to do exactly that."

Berlin Raceway will return to the Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) schedule for a second consecutive season, the venue and series jointly announced via social media on Sunday.
The 0.4375-mile facility will host the fourth event of a six-race campaign on Thursday, August 1st, as the venue looks to repeat the smashing success of the inaugural event at the Berlin, Michigan-based facility.
In what served as the series' third season, the track joined the schedule for the first time, in which several stars of NASCAR, INDYCAR, and other prestigious forms of racing joined to compete in the event.
Kyle Busch, a two-time champion of the NASCAR Cup Series, went on to score the victory in the inaugural event, picking up his second career victory in the series -- in just his second start.
Other notable drivers to compete in the event included Helio Castroneves, Kevin Harvick, Kasey Kahne, and NASCAR Truck Series champion Johnny Benson, Jr., as well as the series' seven full-time drivers.
Berlin Raceway is the first venue to have its date officially announced by the Superstar Racing Experience. Additional announcements regarding the remainder of the schedule are expected to be forthcoming.
Thunder Road SpeedBowl, based in Barre, Vermont, is guaranteed a spot on the schedule for 2024, as a result of some unfortunate flash-flooding last season which forced the event to be canceled last-minute. The date for that event has yet to be announced.

The Nascar Whelen Modifieds returning to the Thompson Speedway for three events in 2024!
“2024 marks the fifth season that the ACT and PASS organizations have co-promoted the ⅝-mile oval at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, and they welcome the nationally renowned NASCAR touring series back to the track that started it all once again in the coming season”, ACT stated. The Whelen Modifieds are the oldest series on the Nascar market and have shown fans why they are one of the best Modified series around. The ground pounders of the Nascar Whelen Modified Tour will visit Thompson three times with their return to the 50th Icebreaker weekend on Sunday April 7th.
“The Icebreaker 150 brings the NASCAR Modifieds back to where it all started for the modern tour where back in 1985 it got its footing, and remains a top draw along the East Coast.” The Whelen Modifieds will return back on the date of Wednesday, August 14th for the Mid Week Special. Then on Sunday, October 13th for the 62nd Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing!
“We’re excited to be able to host the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour for three dates in 2024”, said ACT managing partner Cris Michaud. “Having the Tour bookend the season at Thompson and make for epic Modified showdowns at both the Icebreaker and the World Series is pretty special and certainly gives everyone something to look forward to this off-season.”
We look forward to making our first trip to Thompson Speedway for the 50th Icebreaker on April 6th-7th!!!
